Stained Glass Wall's origins begin with the band WaterStreet, which brought Scott Freeman and Everette Bigbee together in January 2001. They were together for 2 years until "outside forces" led them to take an extended hiatus. Scott then formed Rosewood Acoustic, a harmony filled folk bluegrass project, and Everette formed A Power Rock Trio named Monster. When Monster's drummer was unavailable for gigs, Ev would borrow David Clark, then playing with Violet Jelly, featuring (among others) Chuck Bigbee, Everette's brother (an excellent guitarist in his own right). 2005 brought many changes, good and bad, to Ev's life. He had been running (and still does) an "Open Mic Night" at Art's Bar and Grill in Mt. Pleasant, SC. There he made the acquaintance of Joe Innella, a transplanted New Yorker with a thing for The Beatles and Hot Tuna. Both being Capricorns (and learning to play on identical guitars), they quickly became friends. Unfortunately, 2005 also brought the death of Ev's brother Chuck (effectively putting Violet Jelly, and David, on hold), as well as the demise of Monster. To deal with his losses, Ev cut his schedule down to the open mic solo and Acoustic Shows. During this time, Scott was taking a sabbatical from performing to concentrate on writing new material. In early 2006, following one of Ev's infamous birthday (12/26) jams, Violet Jelly was ready to regroup and start again. In January, they asked Everette to join them, and Big J Hosaphat was born. They were together 2 years before they disbanded in 2008, leaving David without a band. Meanwhile, Joe had started playing bass, after picking it up at one of Ev's open mic nights. Progressing rapidly on this new instrument, he and Ev formed an Acoustic/Bass duo in mid 2007. This period also saw the "outside forces" keeping WaterStreet apart fall to the wayside, leading to a reunion. But by early 2008, the rhythm section, feeling spread too thin, with their families, careers and 2 full time bands, resigned. This left Scott and Everette without a drummer and bassist. The fusion of Scott, Ev, David, and Joe seemed obvious. Joe and Ev already had been planning to add David to their acoustic duo. But considering their wide variety of influences, with Scott being a Deadhead, David’s Yes and ELP fetish, Joe’s love for The Beatles, and Ev’s (Allmans? Zeppelin? Floyd? Man, just was where that guy coming from?) eclectic tastes, could this possibly work? Well, yes. In the end it did. One member's strengths filled another's weakness. They became 4 pieces of entirely different puzzles that fit together to form a bigger musical picture. Stained Glass Wall is Scott Freeman, Joe Innella, David Clark, and Everette Bigbee.
